Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 22, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Kauntor (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our mobile application, our website at kauntor.com and app.kauntor.com (including public profile pages), and related services (together, the “Service”).
Information We Collect
Information you provide: account details (name, email, username, password), profile info (photo, bio, physical measurements), health and fitness data (e.g., weight, height, heart-rate zones, sleep, blood glucose), workout data (exercises, sets, reps, weights), nutrition info (meals, food intake, photos), and user-generated content (comments, messages, likes).
Automatically collected: location during cardio activities, device information, usage data, and heart-rate data from supported devices or integrations.
Camera and media: photos and videos captured for features such as strength analysis and meal logging.
Integrations: data you authorize us to access from Apple HealthKit or Android Health Connect (such as body weight, sleep, and blood glucose), and from connected services such as Garmin and Suunto.
Website visitors: if you visit our public web pages, we collect limited technical information (such as IP address and browser type) needed to serve and secure the pages.
Health Platforms and Device Integrations
Apple HealthKit: We access and store HealthKit data only with your explicit permission. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or sale to third parties. You can revoke access at any time in Apple Health settings.
Android Health Connect: On Android, we read body weight, sleep, and blood glucose from Health Connect only with your explicit permission, and only to power the features described in this Policy — charts and summaries of your own data alongside your training and nutrition, and, when you ask, our AI assistant (Section 6). Kauntor never writes data back to Health Connect. We do not use Health Connect data for advertising, marketing, or sale to third parties, and we do not use it to determine credit, insurance, employment, or lending eligibility. You can revoke access at any time in your device’s Health Connect settings.
Garmin & Suunto: If you connect, we retrieve activity and health information as authorized by you and their terms. You can disconnect at any time within the App or the third-party service.
How We Use Information
We use information to: provide and improve the Service; record and analyze workouts and nutrition; enable device syncing; display your synced health data (such as sleep and blood glucose) alongside your training and nutrition; deliver social features (e.g., messaging, comments, likes); display public profile pages on the web as described in Section 5; provide AI-assisted features (e.g., exercise/rep analysis, food recognition, training planning, and answering your questions about your own data); personalize your experience; maintain security; and comply with law.
Public Profile Pages and Search Engines
Kauntor profiles have a public web page at app.kauntor.com. These pages are viewable by anyone on the internet, without a Kauntor account, and may be indexed by search engines such as Google.
What appears on your page depends on your profile visibility setting:
Public profiles: show your profile photo, name, username, bio, follower and following counts, an activity calendar showing the frequency of your workouts, and workouts you have shared with visibility set to “everyone.”
Private profiles: show only a limited page: your profile photo, name, username, follower and following counts, and your activity calendar. Your workouts, meals, and other content are never shown.
What never appears on any public page: your meals and nutrition data, body measurements or other health data, GPS routes or locations, private or followers-only content, photos attached to workouts or meals, and your follower or following lists.
Your controls: you can switch your profile between Public and Private in the App at any time, and you can turn off your public web page entirely with the “Show my profile on the web” setting in Privacy Settings. Turning it off removes your page and asks search engines to remove it from their results.
If you delete your account, your public page is removed. Search engines may retain cached copies for a short period until their indexes refresh; we submit removal requests to accelerate this.
AI Features and Third-Party Processors
Some features use on-device processing (e.g., Apple Vision/VisionKit) and/or secure cloud processing. Where cloud AI is used, we send relevant data (e.g., images, short video clips, text inputs) to AI service providers solely to perform the requested feature.
Ask Claude (AI assistant): when you ask our AI assistant a question, the data needed to answer it — which may include your meals, workouts, body weight, sleep, and blood glucose readings — is sent to Anthropic, our AI processor, to generate the response. This happens only when you ask a question; the assistant is inactive otherwise. If you are a coach, questions about a trainee include that trainee’s name.
We do not permit AI providers to use your data for advertising, and data sent through these features is not sold. Anthropic processes it solely to provide the response and, under our commercial API terms, does not use it to train its models.
AI outputs can be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on AI features for medical or nutritional decisions without professional guidance. The assistant does not diagnose conditions or provide treatment, dosing, or clinical advice.
Messaging
Direct messages are stored in our databases (e.g., Firebase) and are encrypted in transit and at rest. They are not end-to-end encrypted, meaning message content may be accessible to us under strict role-based access controls (e.g., to comply with law, investigate abuse, or maintain the service).
Data Storage, Retention, and Security
We use reputable providers (e.g., Google Firebase/Cloud) with encrypted transmission and storage, authentication, access controls, and monitoring.
We are not a backup service and do not guarantee retention. We may set or change storage limits and retention periods. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of content you wish to preserve.
We may remove or delete any content, data, or accounts at any time, with or without notice, for any reason or no reason, including operational needs, policy violations, or inactivity.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their marketing. We may share information:
Publicly, as described in Section 5: information shown on your public profile page is visible to anyone, including search engines.
With service providers and sub-processors: (e.g., cloud hosting, AI processors as described in Section 6, customer support) strictly to operate the Service under confidentiality and data protection obligations.
For legal and safety reasons: when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the Service and users.
With your direction or consent: (e.g., posting publicly, sharing with other users, or asking the AI assistant a question about your data).
Your Choices and Rights
Access, update, or delete your account information in the App.
Manage HealthKit, Health Connect, and device integration permissions.
Control your profile visibility (Public/Private), your public web page (Section 5), content visibility on individual posts, and notification preferences.
Request deletion of your account and associated data. We may retain information as permitted by law (e.g., safety, fraud prevention, or legal obligations).
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information.
International Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where we and our service providers operate. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy at any time. Changes are effective when posted in the App or on our website. For material changes — such as changes to what appears on public profile pages — we will provide notice in the App. Your continued use after posting constitutes acceptance.
