Connect your devices
Kauntor pairs with the wearables you already train with. Sync activities from Garmin and Suunto, bring in health data from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, and pick a live heart-rate source for any session.
Garmin
- Go to Profile tab → the ☰ menu icon (top right) → Connect Devices.
- Find the Garmin Connect card and tap Connect.
- Sign in to Garmin and authorize Kauntor in the window that opens.
- The card switches to Disconnect with a green check when it’s done.
Your Garmin activities then flow into Kauntor automatically, and you get a notification as each one arrives. To stop syncing, tap Disconnect on the same card.
Suunto
- Go to Profile tab → the ☰ menu icon (top right) → Connect Devices.
- Find the Suunto card and tap Connect.
- Sign in to Suunto and authorize Kauntor in the window that opens.
Synced workouts land alongside everything else you log, and any cardio activity can be linked to a strength workout from the workout log. To stop syncing, tap Disconnect on the same card.
Apple Health (iPhone)
Workouts recorded on an Apple Watch reach Kauntor through Apple Health — there’s no separate Apple Watch connection to make.
- Go to Profile tab → the ☰ menu icon (top right) → Connect Devices.
- Tap Connect on the Apple Health card.
- Allow the permissions iOS asks for: Workouts, Heart Rate, Walking + Running Distance, Active Energy and Workout Route.
- Kauntor pulls in the last year of workouts straight away, then keeps up as you train.
Body weight, sleep and blood sugar: These are separate switches in the Health Data section of the same screen, each asking for its own permission. Turn on only what you want Kauntor to see.
You can change what Kauntor reads at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Kauntor on your iPhone.
Health Connect (Android)
Health Connect is Android’s shared health store. Kauntor reads body weight, sleep and blood sugar from it — whatever Samsung Health, Fitbit, Garmin, a CGM app or another health app on the phone has written there.
- Go to Profile tab → the ☰ menu icon (top right) → Connect Devices.
- Find the Health Connect card. If your phone doesn’t have Health Connect yet, tap Install Health Connect — it is built into Android 14 and newer, and a Play Store download on Android 9 to 13.
- Turn on the types you want Kauntor to read: Body Weight, Sleep and Blood Sugar, each its own switch.
- Grant the matching read permission in the Health Connect sheet that appears.
Read-only, and revocable at any time: Kauntor never writes anything back to Health Connect. Switch a type off on the same card to stop syncing it, or manage access for every app from the Health Connect settings on your phone.
Workouts on Android: Kauntor does not read workouts from Health Connect. On Android your training comes from the Garmin and Suunto connections above, or from sessions you log in Kauntor itself.
Heart rate during a workout
Live heart rate is picked per session rather than connected once. Start a strength workout or a conditioning activity, tap the heart icon in the top right, then choose a source.
Bluetooth strap (iPhone and Android): Tap Connect to scan, then pick your strap from the list of nearby devices. On Android, allow the Bluetooth and location permissions the phone asks for the first time — Android requires them to scan for nearby devices.
Apple Watch (iPhone only): Open Kauntor on the watch and tap Heart Rate. The Kauntor watch app needs to be installed.
AirPods (iPhone only): Wear supported AirPods and tap Connect. The first time, you’ll be asked to grant heart-rate access.
Apple Watch as a bar sensor (iPhone only)
On squats, bench and deadlifts you can measure rep velocity with the watch instead of the camera — strap it to the barbell collar, outboard of the plates.
- Add the barbell exercise to a strength workout and tap Add Set.
- Enter your reps and weight — velocity tracking stays off until reps are filled in.
- In the VBT — Track Rep Speed section, tap the Apple Watch tile.
- Open Kauntor on the watch, tap Velocity, then Start.
- Press Stop on either device when the set is done.
This is a Premium feature and is currently in beta. It measures mean and peak concentric velocity from the watch’s motion sensors, and isn’t suited to very slow tempo work.
